Frequently asked questions: Irrigation Design
What is an Irrigation Design?
Irrigation design ensures efficient water use, enhancing the performance and profitability of your project. At London Irrigation Specialists, we offer expert advice and customizsed designs for domestic gardens, commercial properties, and large-scale developments, optimising your irrigation system to meet your needs.
What is the Best Layout for Irrigation?
The best irrigation layout ensures every area that needs water receives it, while avoiding overwatering less water-hungry plants. This can be achieved using drip lines, sprinklers, or microsprayers. For lawns, ensure sprinklers overlap to provide proper coverage and uniform watering.
What are the Criteria for Irrigation Design?
Key criteria for irrigation design include knowing the flow rate (litres or gallons per minute) and the pressure (measured in bar). With this information, you can accurately determine the number of sprinklers or the length of drip line needed for effective irrigation.
Do you offer Mulching
Yes! We offer a mulching service with all irrigations. Mulching provides many benefits to an irrigation system, apart from the aesthetics, it retains moisture, mitigates weed growth, provides nutrients to the plants. You can read more about mulching in our blog post here.
Can I design my own irrigation system?
Absolutely, and if this is something you want to do with us we are more than happy to go through the process with you to help you understand. As long as you know the flow rate, and the pressure, the rest will fall into place.
How do you design an irrigation system?
In terms of pure design, for larger projects we use a CAD package of software which performs hydraulic calculations to ensure we are optimally sizing the system and getting proper coverage. For smaller systems, can sometimes do designs by the old fashioned pencil and paper.
